Resurrecting every 500 years, Amenirdis, in any incarnation, was responsible for making pilgrimages to Heliopolis, City of the Sun, where it was believed the ashes of the phoenix’s predecessors came to rest. This continued until approximately 48 BC when involvement in Roman Egyptian affairs sparked a fire in the Library of Alexandria, contributing to its already inevitable decline.
Still, Amenirdis continued the pilgrimages to Heliopolis as physiologically dictacted upon resurrection until the Battle of Helipolis in 640 AD which, while a victory against imposing forces, made Roman Egypt practically defenseless and forced the phoenix to flee.
